Emerald Psychiatry & TMS Center. Make Hope Happen.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
TMS is a proven and highly successful treatment for Major Depressive Disorder in adults who have failed to receive satisfactory improvements from prior antidepressant medications. TMS utilizes a noninvasive magnetic field, similar to that of an MRI, to stimulate the natural function of the brain.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
TMS therapy is a major breakthrough in the treatment of Major Depression. Approved by the FDA in October 2008, TMS is a non-invasive treatment option that uses MRI strength magnetic pulses.TMS is an effective and safe alternative treatment for Major Depressive Disorder.
The treatment is administered in our office without anesthesia and patients can continue to work, attend school, and participate in their normal daily activities during the course of treatment.
Minimal Side Effects
No sedation is necessary prior to treatment and side effects are minimal, the most common being mild discomfort or headache near the area of treatment. You are awake and alert during treatment and can resume normal activity afterwards. Each treatment session is between 20 to 30 minutes.
Many commercial health insurance plans as well as Medicare cover TMS treatment. If you are a candidate for TMS, our office will contact your insurance company and request prior authorization on your behalf.
