Dr. Scott Yoho, DO

Medical Director

Dr. Scott Yoho attended Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and The Ohio State University for his psychiatry residency. Dr. Yoho currently provides outpatient psychiatric care, psychotherapy as well as TMS therapy. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching and playing sports, and is an avid live music fan.

I am a Board Certified General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. I trained at The Ohio State University for my Psychiatry Residency and completed a Child & Adolescent Fellowship at Northwestern University. I am currently in private practice. I am originally from Cleveland, where my sports loyalty lies. In my spare time I like to cook and gradually introduce my kids to the cartoons I enjoyed watching at their ages.

Dr. Lauren Grawert, MD

Dr. Lauren H. Grawert is a double board-certified addiction psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience in treating mood and anxiety disorders, as well as substance use disorders. She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine in 2009, followed by a general psychiatry residency in 2013 and an addiction psychiatry fellowship in 2014, both at MUSC. 

 Throughout her career, Dr. Grawert has held several leadership positions, including serving as Chief of Psychiatry for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Northern Virginia, where she developed large-scale outpatient addiction treatment programs. She has also worked in private practice, specializing in general psychiatry, substance use disorders, and medication-assisted treatment. 

 In April 2023, Dr. Grawert was appointed Chief Medical Officer of Aware Recovery Care, a company specializing in in-home mental health and substance use disorder treatment. In this current role, she collaborates closely with the CEO to lead and scale the Medical Affairs organization, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to clients. 

 Dr. Grawert is a vocal advocate for reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and addiction, striving to increase access to treatment and support. She has served as an expert for the Virginia Governor’s Advisory Commission Task Force on Opioids and Addiction, contributed to Kaiser Permanente’s National Mental Health & Addiction Leadership Organization, and held a professorship in psychiatry at Penn State College of Medicine. 

 In her clinical practice, Dr. Grawert adopts a warm, non-judgmental approach, recognizing the unique challenges faced by individuals dealing with addiction and mental health issues.

Dr. Nicholas Mischel, MD

Dr. Nicholas Ara Mischel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is also the founder of the Program for Interventional Psychiatry and Neuromodulation Research.  

Dr. Mischel earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences and his MD/PhD in Medicine/Physiology from Wayne State University. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at Duke University Hospital. Dr. Mischel’s research interests include the study of autonomic nervous system mechanisms of response to rTMS and esketamine treatments for depression. He has been involved in designing studies for IRB submission and data analysis of directly recorded physiologic outcomes from patients undergoing esketamine and rTMS treatments, including skin capacitance, ECG, EEG, hemodynamics, and others. Dr. Mischel has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to present his research at national and international conferences.  

Originally from Redford, Michigan, Dr. Mischel has strong ties to the Detroit area. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Bronwen and their two children, Cecelia and Nate. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Mischel enjoys boating, fishing, and hiking in his free time. He also has a passion for music and is a house musician at Cafe D’Mongo’s Speakeasy in downtown Detroit every Friday. A dedicated sports fan, Dr. Mischel is an avid supporter of local teams and a passionate college basketball enthusiast. Go WSU Warriors!

Rachel graduated with a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and a MSW and MS in Nursing from Ohio State University.Prior to starting as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, she worked as a social worker for 15 years in a variety of settings including foster care, inpatient and outpatient mental health and a crisis center. Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and their four rescue dogs.

Medication Management Manager

Steven attended Marshall University with his bachelor’s in biology with a minor in Chemistry and French and the University of Kentucky for his MSPAS, PA-C. He provides medication management services and has a particular interest in psychopharmacology and how differences in medications can lead to a more tailored treatment for treating mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use, as well as attention concentration-deficit disorders. In his free time, Steven enjoys spending time with his French Bulldog Ezra, watching movies of all genres, and socializing with family and friends.

She attended The Ohio State University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in public health with a concentration in sociology as well as a master’s degree in psychiatric mental health nursing. She has extensive experience working with people of all ages, including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities, who exhibit challenging mental states in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Vanessa attended Ohio State University for her bachelor’s degree and Wilkes University for her master’s degree. Prior to becoming a Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Vanessa worked in a variety of community mental health settings, neuro intensive care and in nursing leadership roles.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Scott attended Miami University (Ohio) for his bachelor’s degree and Northwestern University for his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Scott is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the State of Ohio and a National Credentialled Counselor (NCC).  Scott specializes in addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Eriq’s approach covers a wide range of evidenced-based treatment modalities, and he is primarily person-centered, and strengths based. Bela has been working in the field of mental health and recovery services for fifteen years as both as an administrator and clinician, working with a varied population that includes the homeless, veterans, folks involved in the criminal justice system and the LGBTQ population.  He believes in the power of connectivity and realize that so many people don’t feel connected due to their mental health and/or substance use, and with this belief there is a responsibility as a clinician to help instill hope, motivation and the belief that people change for the better. In his free time, he likes to be with his children, partner and her children, and enjoys music and writing.

Andrea attended The Ohio State University where she earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in mental health. Prior to becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Andrea worked as a nurse in the emergency department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and most recently was in nursing leadership at the same institution. She is invested in developing client-provider relationships that are built on compassion, trust, and respect. She is passionate about helping clients achieve positive outcomes in their mental health journeys. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and cheering on her favorite sport teams. She loves being outdoors, if Ohio weather cooperates, where she is usually playing golf or hiking, and has acquired a newfound interest in pickleball.

My name is John Edgar, I am lifelong resident of Franklin County. I have been a practicing therapist for nearly a decade. I have experience working with families and individuals in a variety of settings. I have built skills in Solution Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Here at Emerald, I am hoping to bring these skills together to help people overcome struggles and live their best life. Outside of counseling I am very passionate about music and gardening. She has 5 years of experience in working with adults (men, women, first responders/vets) who struggle with trauma, dissociative symptoms, anxiety, and mood disorders. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and EMDR trained. She also uses CBT, DBT and Person-Focused interventions to best serve the needs of each client. Ashley considers it an honor and privilege to walk alongside someone during their difficult time and provide them the tools and resources so they may thrive and begin to feel empowered, despite their circumstances. She loves to spend time with her husband and two dogs by going on hikes. She loves to read books and provide green spaces in and outside of my home with many, many plants.

Rebekah worked in Human Resources for 15 years before choosing a new career path in Counseling. She attended Crown College and acquired her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Rebekah is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) in the State of Ohio. Rebekah works with individuals who are suffering with mental health conditions, including substance and alcohol use disorders. Rebekah is an EMDR Trained therapist and uses a person-centered approach. She has enjoyed integrating EMDR into her practice and is excited about the potential for using this to help relieve daily effects that trauma and addiction have on the lives of her clients. When she is not working, Rebekah loves spending time with her family and friends, taking care of her dog Koda, doing puzzles, listening to Audio Chuck true crime podcasts and using her Peloton.

Serina has significant experience in caregiver coaching, and takes an interest in supporting clients through faith deconstruction/transitions. In her practice, she utilizes therapeutic modalities like ACT, DBT, CBT, and TF-CBT.  Serina prioritizes compassionate listening and practical strategies to help clients build confidence in navigating life’s moments of struggle and satisfaction. I have been serving in the counseling field since 1994.  After graduating from Clemson University in 1998, I began my career working in hospice. I have worked in private practice as well as in other treatment settings. Counseling has been my passion and mission for over 20 years. I enjoy helping clients work through challenges to eventually find solutions for a better quality of life. I enjoy working with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse issues, domestic violence, divorce issues, communication skills, life transitions, spiritual abuse, marginalized populations, LGBTQIA+, ADHD, multicultural populations, military vets, grief, and end of life work. Celestia Helbrede, MSW, LSW

Celestia holds a Master of Social Work from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Public Advocacy from Ohio University. With extensive experience in addressing issues related to sex, sexuality, and gender, Celestia has worked in specialized community mental health settings with LGBTQIA+ youth (ages 14+) and in trauma-informed care for adults. They are committed to fostering an affirming, collaborative, and safe therapeutic environment, valuing the trust clients place in their providers when seeking treatment. Celestia employs a range of modalities including CBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy, DBT, Integrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. Believing in the uniqueness of each client, Celestia collaborates to develop tailored treatment plans that address individual goals.

Alisha is dedicated to helping clients recognize their intrinsic strengths and abilities and encourages them to use these skills to create the life they desire. Alisha also places importance on the identification and implementation of healthy strategies that clients can use to cope with life’s stressors. Emily graduated from Capital University in 2019 with her bachelor’s of Social Work. After graduation, Emily took a gap year where she worked as a community-based clinician. While working, Emily attended Ohio State’s Advanced Standing Program for her Master’s of Social Work. Emily’s focus while studying for her MSW was clinical mental health. Emily has experience working in community-based settings, schools, and telehealth with both children and families. Emily utilizes evidence-based practices, including trauma-informed care with her clients, offering an inviting, safe space.

Sarah Allen, LSW

Therapist 

I received my undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University in Public Health and Psychology before pursuing a master’s degree from Ohio State University in Social Work. I have specialized experience working with post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. I have experience working with individuals of all ages and abilities, including individuals diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities. Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary.

In her free time Emily loves running, yoga, bible study, and spending time camping and adventuring with her husband and three kiddos. She also loves football and every opportunity to be outside.

Dana attended Capital University for their bachelor’s degree and Ursuline College for their dual master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy.

They provide psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults. Dana utilizes an eclectic and creative approach to the therapeutic process. She values empowering others to increase coping skills, improve relationships, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, improve emotional resilience, process trauma, resolve conflicts and distress, and enhance overall wellness.

Dana’s specialty interests include: working with the LGBTQIA+ community as well as anxiety, depression, and navigating life transitions.

Jill earned her master’s degree from Northern Kentucky University and brings over a decade of nursing experience, with a strong focus on mental health. As a Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner, she is committed to trauma-informed care, creating a safe and supportive environment, and tailoring treatment to everyone’s individual needs.

She has a particular passion for working with children, adolescents, and women because she recognizes their unique challenges. She believes in early intervention, helping individuals develop healthy copings skills and resilience that can impact their lifelong well-being. Her work with women stems from a desire to support those navigating life transitions, trauma, and complexity of balancing multiple roles.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring outdoors, and reading.

I received my bachelor’s Degrees in Sociology and Communications prior to receiving my Master’s in Social Work from Ohio University.

 I have experience both in community mental health and outpatient private practice. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults, and primarily with women, girls, and the LGBTQIA+ population to improve self-empowerment and resilience through various challenges.

 In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and exploring various restaurants in the area.  I also enjoy being home, watching movies, and hanging out with my two cats and partner.

Erin Merrill, LPCC, LICDC

Therapist 

Erin is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) with eight combined years of experience working in mental health and chemical dependency counseling. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. Erin is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

 Erin has experience working with individuals navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and OCD. Drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches—Erin tailors each treatment plan to meet the unique needs and goals of her clients. Her therapeutic style emphasizes collaboration, compassion, and empowerment.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Cortney obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Kent State University with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing across the lifespan. Additionally, she completed a 1-year APRN fellowship after graduation in child and adolescent psychiatry.

She has experience treating children and adolescents and is also able to see adult clients. Her practice is client centered, and she is passionate about creating collaborative relationships with clients and their families. She has special interests in treating ADHD, trauma and partnering with client’s through life transitions.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, DIY’ing and traveling.

Kelsea attended The Ohio State University where she earned her Bachelors and Master of Social Work.

 She brings valuable experience from working in a Community Based setting with children and their families, focusing on IFAST, SFT, MI, and NMT models in-person and via telehealth; she has extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ populations, individuals involved in the court systems, and the child welfare system. Kelsea emphasizes the importance of building therapeutic rapport, and is honored work with individuals from all walks of life to help them develop and enhance the tools they’ll use to feel confident and empowered throughout time.

In her free time, Kelsea enjoys spending time with her dog and two cats, building Legos and puzzles, reading books, playing video games, and going to estate sales with her husband.
