What is Spravato (Nasal Esketamine)?
Spravato is a prescription medication, used along with an antidepressant, to treat adults with treatment resistant depression. When administered through the nose, Spravato immediately impacts your brain cells providing relief from depression. Spravato is fast acting and patients can see results in as little as 24 hours.
Esketamine was approved by the FDA in March of 2019 and the effects have been proven in helping depression symptoms.

Patients are 70% less likely to have a relapse of depressive symptoms
Improvement in depressive symptoms can be felt in 24 hours

The Process
Step 1: Evaluation
First, you will meet with one of our trained medical providers to review your medical history. They will ask questions about your symptoms, explain the process of Spravato and determine if Spravato is right for you.
Step 2: Insurance
Next, our team will submit a prior authorization to your insurance company and determine your coverage. We can review all payment options available to you as needed.
Step 3: Treatment
Then, once our provider has created your individualized treatment plan, you are ready to start Spravato! The medication is administered in our office 2 days a week for your first month, 1 day a week for your second month and as needed after your first two months.
Step 4: Follow Up
Start feeling better! Once you finish your treatments and are feeling the positive effects of Spravato, you and our provider will determine the continuance of Spravato for you.

How do I know if Spravato is right for me?
Expect to review your overall medical and mental health treatment history in deciding with your healthcare provider whether Spravato treatment is right for you.
How do I prepare for treatments?
To prepare for your Spravato treatment, avoid eating 2 hours prior to receiving the medication. Avoid large amounts of fluid for 30 minutes before your appointment. You can bring a beverage (water, etc.) and will be advised by a medical professional when you can have it.
After receiving a Spravato dose, you will stay in our office for 2 hours being monitored and getting your blood pressure taken.
Be sure to have someone there to drive you home, you are not able to operate machinery after receiving Spravato until the next day.
Feel free to bring a mobile device and ear buds to listen to music during and after your treatment.
What is a treatment like?
A staff member will assist you to our designated room and sit you in a comfortable chair. They will take blood pressure at this time.
One of our licensed medical professionals will be there to walk you through how to self administer Spravato. They will guide you through the entire process.
Staff members will monitor you for the next 2 hours after your treatment and take your blood pressure.
You can listen to music, read a book, or be on your phone during this time.
What are common side effects?
You will not be allowed to drive or operate heavy machinery until you have had a full night’s sleep after receiving treatment.
Side effects may include disassociation, dizziness, nausea, sedation, spinning sensation, numbness, anxiety, lack of energy, increased blood pressure, vomiting, feeling drunk, feeling very happy or excited.
If these side effects occur, they usually happen right after dosage and will go away the same day.
How long is a round of treatments?
Each treatment session lasts 2 hours and during this time, you will be monitored and kept comfortable.
A typical round of full treatment of esketamine consists of 24-26 sessions.

Spravato treatments are administered at our Dublin office only, located at 4995 Bradenton Ave, Suite 130, Dublin OH 43017.
Is Spravato covered by insurance?
Emerald Psychiatry & TMS Center will handle all of the insurance for you and work with your insurance company to ensure coverage is possible.
